I call this the E-Bear. The reason for that will be explained in the return of the E-Bear (when I next upload him), as requested by one of my friends xxFeexx.

So there he zooms across space with a jet-pack and a fishbowl for a helmet and no suit whatsoever.

Flash Walk

This was an exercise in one of my classes. A five or six hour work, and my first Flash animation.

Very rough and broken: key and break down clip just trying to get used to drawing on Flash (which I can't really seem to do at this point in time) but it's a start.

Perspective Walk

Fifth week into second term and the scene of the week is another walk but in perspective. Lots of things going on this week so I finished this early and at a poorish standard so I can work on other things.

The character is meant to be Peter Pan, classically animated, doped on Toonboom and minor edit on AdobeAE. Took about two and a bit days of in-class time to complete.

A little update to the blog, I very tediously added a drop down menu for the different pages in this page at the very top of the screen hoping to keep things tidy and organised so that it's easier to navigate when there isn't so many initial links to overwhelm your eyes.

Anyway, the topic of the week for Illustrtation Friday is "Kernel". I've chosen to portray a monarchy in which the kernel of this image is Princess Leah - The Monarch of Engelbæk.

Another vector inspired by Uwe Heidschötter (the first being "The Box"). Heidschötter's image on the left in particular and the hairstyle of the photo on the right that I thought looks quite royal, which I tried to mimic.

Life Drawing 2

Life drawing of today, consists of several 1 minute drawings (top left), and some 20 or so minute drawings.

Got a great model today but too bad I didn't get any longer drawing sessions. A little bit guttered that these aren't as detailed as they could have been, but I guess speed is something I'll have to work more on next time.

The Box

So earlier this week, my life drawing tutor told me to try something new, (the box framing) so I did. I came up with this idea one day and I quite like the end product.

This colouring scheme and style is inspired by a couple of 's artwork that I was made to study for a different purpose several weeks before that.

I involved the text because this is was originally a concept for a T Shirt design for Deviant Art's Typography competition. I still have a lot to learn about Typography but I'm happy with what I've done so far.

I like the whole splashing out of the boundaries idea, so you can expect to see this again soon.

Sencil Walk

The scene of the week is to make this character Tom Halts, a character of Freelance Animation School walk across then off the screen.

This time it's a key and inbetween animation with a couple of the keys cleaned up. I had a bit of extra time and got bored so I added the little text effects with Adobe After Effects.

His left leg has weight issues which I'm aware so for my perspective walk animation that I'll be doing in two weeks time will hopefully avoid the mistakes of today.

My entry for this week's IllustrationFriday topic, "Jump" is Swinsa. A quick figurative drawing sketch.

This is mainly a one and a half hour experimental sketch of a character in motion.
I quite like this extreme arcing pose although the tilt of the wrists turn me off.

I haven't really drawn much gestural drawings so this is to help me practise that as well familiarising myself with the different kinds of brushes and settings that PSD has to offer. I've still got a long way to go so expect something better soon!

Key Animation: Punch Scene

Second term of second year has commenced and so has the animation side of my course, yay!

Nothing special here, about two days of class time to complete the key animation of a girl punching the boy.
I don't think there will be any inbetweens for this one, just a simple reintroduction of animating after not doing any for several months.
